  • CODE OF ETHICS

Top 10 things to remember when you are on a job:

    1. Please always be on time (being late might cause you to be sent home without being paid!)
    2. Please make sure you know where you are going and check public transport for any delays or engineering work that might cause you to be late. We recommend all our artists carry with them a London A-Z at all times. A lot of studios and film locations are hidden in the nooks and crannies of London’s streets.
    3. When you arrive at the Unit Base, please sign in with your point of contact immediately. You will be provided with a chit (aka salary/job voucher). You need to keep it with you through out the day and make sure it is signed by the person appointed at the end of the working day.
    4. Please come prepared as requested in the job confirmation (e.g. outfits, hair styles, etc.) Try to make an effort to look your best- and not like you just rolled out of bed (even if it is 5am)!
    5. Please listen and follow the instructions of the AD (Assistant Director) or person responsible for the artists.
    6. Please behave in a professional manner at all the times. (Drugs, alcohol, loud music, bad language and lewd behavior are not tolerated and will lead to immediate dismissal on set and you will be taken off our books at once.)
    7. You shall not divulge any details relating to any production that has yet to be released.
    8. Please do not take any photos on the set.
    9. Please do not approach actors on the set.
    10. Please make sure that you get your chit (salary voucher) signed off, without it you will not be paid.
    11. Should any problems arise when you are on the set, please contact Limelight People, not the production company.

    Things to keep in mind.
    - Please make sure that you inform Limelight People of any change in your appearance.
    - Please make sure that you inform Limelight People of any change in your contact details.
    - Please always remember the name of the production you have been booked for and the name of the Limelight People booker who booked you for the job.
    - Limelight People do not guarantee any work. Limelight People seek to find work opportunities for their artists in the film and entertainment industry.
    - You are not obliged to accept any work offered to you, however, if you do, please fulfill your obligations.

  • BOOKINGS

For bookings, you will be contacted either by telephone, text message or email.
You will be given all the details of the job you have been booked for. This includes: location, dress code, call time, rate of pay (before agency’s commission), end time, and a small description of your role. Please follow the exact instructions, e.g. If you are asked to email back or text back- DO NOT RING THE OFFICE. Your call will not be taken.
If you state that you are available for the requested day, you must be available for the entire day. Filming takes most of the day, therefore if you are only available for half of the day- please do not say you are available.

    a) Penciled booking
Penciled work is not definite but it means that you have been put forward for a job that you are available for and will attend if it is confirmed by the client. It is up to the client to choose whom they want to use. If you have been penciled for a job, we will let you know if you are chosen as soon as we know. If you are penciled for a job by us and another agency offers you work, you must check with us first whether you can be released to accept their work. If your availability changes while you are penciled for a job, you must let us know as soon as possible.

    b) Confirmed booking
This is definite work. You are available and the client has chosen you for the job. There is no cancellation on the artist’s part in a confirmed booking. Film and TV production companies have up to 5:30pm of the day before the job to cancel a person or a job. If we receive notice of cancellation after this- you will receive a cancellation fee. Please be aware it is the nature of the industry, changes of a schedule and cancellations can happen.
If you have a confirmed booking, you will receive a job confirmation either by email or text message with all the details between 5.30 pm and 8.00 pm. Please do not try to contact us before those times as we won’t have any of the details before 5.30 pm, therefore we will not be able to help. When you receive details, please confirm that you have received them either by email or text as requested.

  • PAYMENTS

All the payments are made by BACS (bank transfer) only. It is your responsibility to make sure that we have your correct bank details. Some payments may take longer than others- usually between 6-12 weeks is standard- but it does vary. We will never make an advanced payment- so please do not ask.

The Production (your employer) is responsible for paying the invoices Limelight People (your agent) send them. Limelight People will not advance payments to Artists. We ensure that you will receive your payment (less agency commission and in some cases NI contributions) within 10 days from the day we receive payment from the client. When the payment is done you will be emailed Remittance Advice. Please note- you will not get paid for a job if you do not provide us with the correct bank details within 18 months of the date you worked on a job for Limelight People. We spend alot of time and money trying to chase artists for their bank details, so please make sure we have the correct details to make payments before or shortly after you work on a job. If you supply us with incorrect bank details and LP have paid your monies into that incorrect account: it will be your responsibility to recover the money from whoever the monies were sent to. Our bank is not responsible for recovering money sent to an incorrect bank account you sent us- you are.

When working as an Supporting Artist (SA) the Inland Revenue view of your employment status is complex. A different view is taken between Tax and National Insurance. For Tax reasons you are seen as self employed and therefore you are responsible for paying your own Income Tax and completing your own annual tax return. For more details please contact your local Tax office.

However for National Insurance purposes you are nearly always considered to be an employee of the production company. (The exception to this could be Photographic work, where no NI is usually taken). In all other cases the production company will deduct Class 1 National Insurance. Therefore unfortunately having self-employed status (class 2) does not prevent you from paying Class 1 National Insurance when working as an SA. You are only considered exempt from NI if you are of retirement age and have a valid exemption certificate, our accounts department need to have a photocopy of this.

Limelight People take up to 20% commission from the jobs provided for registered artists.
